Warowtani

Warowtani is another town that White described as part of the Weapemeoc tribe, a town that lay at the border of the Weapemeoc and Chowanoc territories. The name Warowtani would have meant town in a hollow, again referring to something more specific about the geographic setting. Eastern Algonkians were known particularly for their river prowess and towns were often located on the necks of land that were formed by streams coming together.
