Cautaking

Cautaking (or Catoking) was a town in an area that marked the territorial division between the Chowanoc and the Weapemeoc, so it is plausible that this town could have belonged to either group. However, on White’s map Cautaking is specified as a Weapemeoc town. In 1585, the Weapemeoc chief was Okisco, who was tied up in some political complications between the Chowanoc and Secotan. Although Wingina (chief of the Secotan) attempted to gain the alliance of Weapemeoc against the English, Okisko declined.
