Masequetuc

Masequetuc is one of four towns that were described as affiliated with the Weapemeoc nation. Many researchers think that the name of this town is synonymous with Pasquenoc, which is the name listed for the same place in other sources. The translation of the town in Algonquian means women’s river, which aligns with Sir Ralph Lane’s description of the town (“the womans Towne”) as well as interpretations of Pasquenoc.
