Based on the locations of important sites within North Carolina, we present a series of three driving trails, linked in the sidebar to the left. The John White and Mt. Gilead trails were created by the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at UNC and the Cherokee Heritage Trail was put together with the help of the Museum of the Cherokee Indian. These driving trails provide coverage for the eastern (coastal), central, and western portions of the state. We hope you will consider traveling to these areas and learning more about the history and heritage of North Carolina!
